I didn’t write this book to be famous. I wrote it because I survived.
My name is Gregory G. Camacho—a husband, a father, a storyteller, and a man who spent years running from his past before finally choosing to face it. I was raised between Newburgh, New York and Puerto Rico, caught in a web of generational trauma, addiction, faith, gang life, and silence. For a long time, I wore those things like armor. I called it survival. But deep down, I was just trying not to disappear.
Split Down the Middle is my story—the truth I once buried, now told in full. It’s about being sent away as a child, becoming someone I didn’t recognize, and learning (slowly, painfully) how to rebuild a life rooted in love, not fear.
Today, I’m a marketing professional and creative, living in Florida with my wife and three sons. But before any of that, I was a kid just trying to be seen. This book, this site, and this space exist for people like me—for anyone who’s ever felt abandoned, misunderstood, or lost in the shadows of their own story.
I believe in second chances. I believe in truth over silence. And I believe that no story is too far gone to rewrite.
